WELCOME TO PATAGONIA CHILE

Tierra del Fuego, Chile

WHERE IS THE LODGE? The lodge is located on 20 acres in front the banks of the Rasmussen River, 150 miles outside of the town of Porvenir, Tierra del Fuego Chile and 10 miles from the Pampa Guanaco aerodrome for charter flights between Punta Arenas and Tierra del Fuego Chile.

This is the location of my new Lodge in Tierra del Fuego CHILE, view on Google Earth, 54°09’00.2″S 68°42’42.0″W, view on Google Maps.

Although the mythical Rio Grande is the centerpiece of the fishing program in Tierra del Fuego CHILE, you have the option to ford river tributaries and spring streams to experience the incredible diversity of fishing found here. Little-known streams, lakes and remote lagoons make up this world-class fishing program. With all these water options available, you’ll never have to go to the same place again during a visit, unless you choose to do so.

The trout season in Tierra del Fuego CHILE really takes off after the first week of November and continues until mid-April. April fishing is popular among Chileans while the months of November and December are particularly enjoyed by our international clients. The end of February, March and the first part of April are also enjoyed by our international clients.

Fishing Equipament

Most guides and lodges prefer #8-9 two-handed rods, with Skagit Versi-tip lines. And for one hand rods number #5 -6 and 7 wt. They are preferred for fishing in lakes and lagoons. WF’s floating lines and corresponding sinking lines for heavier rods are ideal.

Contact us for first-hand rig and fly recommendations and a full gear list.

Does the lodge provide equipament?

Yes. The Lodge has a good selection of equipment, high quality waders and boots available, free of charge. It is best to notify the Lodge prior to arrival if equipment is required.

We recommend anglers come prepared with a small selection of 7.5′-1O’ and 12′ OX Tapered Leaders We also suggest anglers come with a variety of tippet in sizes OX and 1X, as these items are not easy to find in Punta Arenas, although they will be available at the Lodge.

At Magallanes Fly Fishing we are a full service fishing company that can supply all the fishing gear for your trip including fishing supplies, waders and boots .

We work in partnership with leading outdoor brands such as Sweden’s LOOP, Scientific Anglers, Fishpond and Patagonia among others. We use only high performance fishing gear and clothing to maximize our customers’ time and enjoyment on the water.

The Lodge has a small fishing supply store with a good selection of local flies, fly lines and other items for sale.

What types of fish will i catch?

The fishing program focuses primarily on brown and rainbow trout, most of which are in the 14-20 inch range, with some exceptional 30-inch brown trout sizes in some of the private rivers and lakes.
